Let me take you back to 1991 when Brad Caines (Creative Director at Withit) was selling hand-painted t-shirts on his street market in the drizzle of Bristol. When summer ended and winter rolled in, he realised he needed something less seasonal and started selling small bags and accessories from Blairs Accessories.
Although he didn’t know it at the time Gavin Watson who owned Blairs would become a Withit licensee 10 years later creating Denim fashion bags and cool shoppers for Withit. Dolph Zahid (Director of Withit) would often meet Gavin at tradeshows around the world and they continued to stay in touch.
Gavin retained a successful bag company designing and selling wholesale with a thriving online presence globally, but felt he had a gap in his portfolio. He called Dolph to ask if he could work with him again to reimagine the Withit Characters into a new range of fashion bags.
So, the design process started! This time to move away from more conventional all over prints and develop a stronger, layered and premium quality range.
Working with Gavin’s expert team in Hong Kong, a collection of bags emerged using various materials and textures that captured the characters iconography with high finished branding and build quality.
Cheeky Monkey uses blue quilted denim with black denim piping and suedette and blue shimmer PU materials. A pop of yellow on straps, zips and print bring zing to the ever-popular character, topped off chrome Withit logo zip pulls.
Glamour Puss could only be bling and that’s what this bag range does very well. Silver and gold glitter with rose gold, and mirrored sunglasses you could fix your makeup in offer both contrast to Cheeky’s range as well the strong branding linking them both.
